It was her sixteenth birthday
The moon relected off her pool
It's true, the night was beautiful
And she looked like a jewel.
Her life looked so perfect,
All her sweet dreams came true
She had a boyfriend she loved dearly
And he adored her too.
Her friends stood in the backyard
All having lots of fun
But as her eyes scanned across the crowd
She found she was missing one.
She searched the crowd again
As she began to contemplate
"Where could my boyfriend be?
It's not like him to be late."
She pushed through the sea of guests
And went inside to use the phone
She hung up after 20 rings
Thinking he was not home.
Scared that something happened
She got in her brand-new car
"I'll check it out just in case,
His house isn't very far."
Within five minutes she was there
And standing at the door
Rang the bell, took a step back
Thinking, "This has never happened before."
Her thoughts began to clutter
And her mind began to whirl
When he opened up the door
Standing with another girl.
She was filled with hurt and shock
It all seemed like a dream
His mouth dropped open in surprise
As she began to scream.
"What do you think you're doing?" she asked,
"Who do you think you are?"
He stood there, wide eyed and open mouthed
As she ran back to her car.
If she hadn't drawn conclusions,
Suffered delusions from her fears
He could've told her it was his cousin
That he hadn't seen in years.
No one knows what became of her
Most think that she is dead
But it's sad, that it would've been ok
If she's just used her head.
