Tonight on the Simpsons
Softball is the theme
It's about the nuclear power plant
And how Homer helped their team.
It began at the power plant
Homer was on his break
He was looking at a bulliten board
Eating donuts, free to take.
A flyer caught Homer's eye
For the plant's softball team
Him and his friends decided to play
(Homer claimed it was his dream.)
Their team, at first, seemed hopeless
Until Homer came up to bat
He knocked the ball right out of the park
And won every game like that.
His alias was "Homerun Homer"
Everyone knew his name
It's no surprise that he lead the team to
The city championship game.
They were playing against Shelbyville
And Mr. Burns made a bet
With their coach for one million dollars
That he was sure to get.
To insure his team would win
Burns hired nine baseball pros
Gave 'em jobs, stuck 'em on the team
And the odds in his favor rose.
The pros replaced most of the players
And the angry look on Homer's face
Was shot towards Daryl Strawberry
When he took Homer's place.
Finally the big game arrived
Burns was set to win that day
But as game time approached he nervously asked,
"The players, where are they?"
Well, Jose Canseco was saving a woman's
Possessions from a fire,
Wade Boggs was lying on the floor of a bar
After calling someone a liar.
Ken Griffey Jr. was at the hospital
For drinking brain and nerve tonic
In the bed next to him laid Mike Scocia
For radiation poisoning, it was chronic.
Steve Sax was arrested for speeding,
Don Mattingly quit after shaving his head
Roger Clemems was clucking like a chicken
After hearing something a hyptonist said.
Ozzie Smith was in a mystery spot
Falling in a vortex that went nowhere.
Meanwhile, the old players got to play
'Cept for Homer -- Daryl was still there.
The game was played with excitement
By the last inning it was tied
Both Daryl and Homer wanted to bat
And Burns took Homer's side.
Homer walked up to the plate
Recalling things Burns had said
But as he was eyeing Mr. Burns
The ball hit him in the head.
Homer was knocked unconcious
But it was counted as a run
It gave Springfield the winning point
And that's how Homer won!
